Board of Advisors Julian Bejarano

Ph.D.

Dr. Bejarano has more than twelve years of experience in fundamental and applied research related to materials science, including biomaterials for regenerative medicine and multifunctional nanoparticles for controlled drug delivery. Julian is a Materials Engineer and has a Master in Materials Engineering from the Universidad del Valle, Colombia and a Doctorate in Engineering Sciences with emphasis in Materials Science from the University of Chile. Julian was a visiting researcher during his Ph.D. studies at the Institute of Biomaterials, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. Following his doctorate studies, Dr. Bejarano spent three years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Advanced Center for Chronic Diseases in Chile working on liposome-based nanosystems for the controlled release of cardioprotective peptides. Additionally, he was Research Advisor of the Group of Polymer Engineering at the Universidad de Chile working on projects related to bioactive micro- and nanoparticles and biodegradable porous materials for bone regeneration. Dr. Bejarano has published a number of scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals about materials science and materials for medical applications. Also, he has presented his work in international conferences on biomaterials and regenerative medicine.
